Squirrels may not be one of the most popular crochet patterns, but that doesn’t change how cute they look. We have found for you a beautiful and free pattern from the designer Mes Mignonneries.

Nuttea the Squirrel is the perfect amigurumi project to add to your collection of crochet friends and add coziness to your home.

Abbreviations

Mr: magic ring
Ch: chain
Sl st: slip stitch
Sc: single crochet
Inc: increase
Dec: decrease
()*: repeat till the end of round
(): total number of stitches in the round

Materials

Cotton ricorumi: orange (025), brown (057), sage green (076)
Crochet hook: 3mm
6mm safety eyes, You may need to use smaller/larger eyes, depending on hook/yarn size.
Yarn needle
Black embroidery thread
Fiberfill for stuffing
Scissors

Size with the materials above will be about 10cm

Fasten off and close.

Embroider the nose and eyebrows with black embroidery thread.

Arms (x2)

In orange.

Sew the arms to the body.

Ears (x2)

Flatten the opening of the ear and Sc in next 5 stitches through both layers to close the opening.

To make the hair on the ear, cut a strip of orange yarn and make a lark’s head knot. Using your crochet hook, pull the strands through a stitch on the top of the head to create a loop. Pull your end through the loop and pull tight.

Folding and sew the ears on the head.

Tail

In orange.

Stuff the tail lightly. Flatten the opening of the tail and sc in the next 9 stitches through both layers to close the opening, Faten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the tail to the back of the body. Wrap the end of the tail around itself.

Acorn

In brown.

In sage green.

Round 5: through back loops only (2 Sc, Dec)* (9)

Stuff, fasten off and close.

With brown yarn, sl st in front loops of Round 5.

With brown yarn, Ch 4, turn (start in 2nd ch from hook), 3 sc. Sew on the top the acorn.

Sew/glue the acorn between Nuttea’s arms.
