Fasten off the first part. The remaining thread can be used to sew the little hole that can appear in the middle after joining.
Don’t cut the second part, join t the first with 1 sc (first of the Rnd) and crochet all around both parts of the wood.

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.
